WHY & HOW

NEEDS

Lebanon needs to keep on moving from disability, ignorance and abuse, to education, shelter and children rights. Lebanon needs us to shift from despair to hope.

GOSPEL

We believe that the Gospel is the only source that gives people the strength and hope they need in order to develop the needed resilience amidst the harshness of life.

EDUCATION

If you think Education is expensive in a community, try ignorance. We strive to provide the power of Education to everyone. It is an essential key for growth hence success in the future.

LOVE

To love and to be loved is a main source of happiness in life. We love others and we do everything with love because He has first loved us.

SUPPORT

We support children and adults to help them stay up when suffering hits hard. Our support provides them with hope, self-esteem and a sense of belonging.

OUR STORY

“GOD WILL PROVIDE”

October the 27th 1860 is a date that will remain in the memory of many people in this great land of Lebanon. That was the day when a certain 60 year-old widow by the name of Mrs. Elizabeth Bowen-Thompson stepped off a ship at Beirut port and so started the story that we still see unfolding today.

The events of 1860 in Lebanon are well documented and the result was a catastrophe. Tens of thousands of husbandless women and fatherless children arrived on the streets of Beirut with very little hope of getting out of their predicament. You may well ask the question, “What can one woman do against this sea of desperation?” The same question was probably asked of David as he stood before Goliath and of many others who stood against great odds. Fortunately, just as David before her, Mrs. Bowen-Thompson was not standing in her own strength but rather in the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. What she accomplished in the nine years that followed her coming to Beirut is nothing short of miraculous, but then again the God she believed in was the God of miracles, the God of grace, the God of compassion towards those in need.

MISSION & OBJECTIVES

Building a solid future for our Lebanese people by shaping their lives in genuinely Christian ways.

Our vision is that we present the Gospel of Christ to young people all over Lebanon; that we shape and mold their lives in genuinely Christian ways; thus, making a significant contribution to the well-being of our beloved nation; This the calling of LES.

We believe that every child is entitled to have access to school education. Special Education is not at the margin but at the heart of LES work. ‘No Child Left Behind’ motto is what is fuelling our passion to keep on moving amidst the hardship that our beloved country might be facing.

School education and social care, community and national patriotism must focus on the all-round development of a child’s personality and this is not an option but a necessity.
